Request for Proposal: People development strategy for the vegetable, potato, and onion industries (MT22002)
Hort Innovation is a not-for-profit, grower-owned research and development corporation (RDC) for Australia’s $15.1 billion horticulture industry. Hort Innovation invests around $120 million in research and development (R&D) and marketing programs annually to provide benefit to industry and the wider community.
Hort Innovation is seeking a suitably qualified, experienced, and capable delivery partner for the project: People development strategy for the vegetable, potato, and onion industries (MT22002).
The objectives of the services being sought are to:
• Develop a people development strategy for the vegetable, potato (fresh and processing) and onion funds that sits alongside the respective SIP 2022-26 and provides clear strategic guidance and direction to investments, made to attract and develop industry staff. The strategy must also include an implementation plan for the period 2022-26.
• This strategy should outline opportunities to demonstrate an attractive career path to prospective staff and offer qualifications and skill, building initiatives to enhance progression along that career pathway and increase the professionalism of the industry workforce.
• The investment should assess and replicate suitable examples of people development initiatives undertaken in other industries e.g., mining, construction, other ag. The career pathway will need to consider the diversity of supply chain businesses; from family run to corporate enterprises and both unskilled and skilled job roles.
• Industry consultation will be required to identify current people development needs for existing staff. It will also be important to consult with potential staff, to understand their decision-making process and how to design an effective attraction strategy.
