Request for Proposal: National vegetable and onion benchmarking program (MT22009)
Hort Innovation is a not-for-profit, grower-owned research and development corporation (RDC) for Australia’s $15.1 billion horticulture industry. Hort Innovation invests around $120 million in research and development (R&D) and marketing programs annually to provide benefit to industry and the wider community.
Hort Innovation is seeking a suitably qualified, experienced, and capable delivery partner for the project: National vegetable and onion benchmarking program (MT22009).
The objectives of the services being sought are to:
• Deliver a grower-orientated farm benchmarking tool or resource for the vegetable and onion industries that engages growers, validates regional drivers of farm best practice, informs broader issues and trends facing the industry across Australia.
• Develop a benchmarking initiative for the vegetable and onion industry in a manner and process that builds grower trust with unquestioned confidentiality for individual enterprise data.
• Establish or refine key benchmark metrics that provides Australian vegetable growers with meaningful data on the operational, financial and production components of their business, and allows for comparisons with other growers by vegetable types, business size and region, while supporting industry progress against the Strategic Investment Plan (SIP).
• Work with the existing infrastructure, programs and trusted relationships that exist in the vegetable and onion industries extension and communications systems, coordinating a dynamic benchmarking initiative that engages a representative level of grower participation across the national landscape.
• Enable an industry wide mindset and culture of continuous improvement and data-driven practice change that supports a more profitable, sustainable, prepared, and competitive industry.
