Horticulture Innovation Australia (Hort Innovation) is a not-for-profit, grower-owned Research and Development Corporation (RDC) for Australia’s $14.4 billion horticulture industry. Hort Innovation invests around $110 million in research and development (R&D) and marketing programs annually to provide benefit to industry and the wider community.
Hort Innovation is seeking a suitably qualified, experienced and capable delivery partner for the project: PI22001 - Australian Pineapple Breeding and Evaluation Program.
The objectives of the services being sought are to .
The objective of this proposed investment is to;
• Develop and evaluate new varieties with the potential to address consumer and agronomic requirements
• Explore the potential to examine field-derived clones of popular varieties such as 73-50
• Generate performance data for pineapple selections from current and previous investments
• Establish and coordinate trial sites for existing and new pineapple selections
• Communicate performance of new selections to growers and the broader pineapple industry, including through engagement with and industry-focused project reference group
