Tender Details
Hort Innovation is a not-for-profit, grower-owned Research and Development Corporation (RDC) for Australia’s $9 billion horticulture industry. Hort Innovation invests around $100 million in research and development (R&D) and marketing programs annually to provide benefit to industry and the wider community.

Hort Innovation is seeking a suitably qualified, experienced and capable delivery partner for the project: National strawberry varietal improvement program (2017-2022) (BS17000).

The objectives of the services being sought are to help Hort Innovation:
• Develop and release economically superior strawberry cultivars into the national strawberry production and marketing cycle for each of the three climatic growing regions taking into account key aspects of environment, social and economic sustainability
• Efficiently employ breeding technologies and germplasm in an integrated program focused on market outcomes and economic benefit for each of the three specified climatic growing regions
• Effectively deliver focused, scalable pre-commercialisation activities for each of the three specified growing regions
• Foster industry involvement and linkages with domestic and international collaborators to drive genetic progress
• Utilise modern breeding and genetic techniques/technologies resulting in higher efficiency in the variety development and deployment processes
• Participate initiatives led by Hort Innovation including those through the Hort Frontiers strategic partnership initiative and international linkages.
