Hort Innovation is a not-for-profit, grower-owned Research and Development Corporation (RDC) for Australia’s $9 billion horticulture industry. Hort Innovation invests around $100 million in research and development (R&D) and marketing programs annually to provide benefit to industry and the wider community.
Hort Innovation is seeking a suitably qualified, experienced and capable delivery partner for the project: Apple and pear export readiness and market access (AP17002).
The objectives of the services being sought are to help Hort Innovation to ensure the export readiness of the apple and pear industry for export by:
• Providing input into the maintenance of the Apple and Pear Export Market Development Strategy detailing market access, improvement and development priorities
• Provide input into Hort Innovation’s market development programs in line with priorities identified in the export market development strategy and Outcome 2 of the Apple and Pear Strategic Investment Plan (SIP)
• Providing input into the development of training materials for a broad multi-industry export training program aligned to the export market development strategy
• Providing input into the development of Export Quality Standards
• Facilitating the logistics and providing assistance to enable the Department of Agriculture and Water Resources registration and audit of export facilities
• Prepare and submit business cases to Hort Innovation’s Trade Assessment Panel for new market access and market improvement based on priorities identified in the Apple and Pear Export Market Development Strategy
• Provide a point of expert industry advice both technical and commercially relevant to growers, exporters and other stakeholders, including Hort Innovation, the Department of Agriculture and Water Resources, Austrade and state agencies
• Provide a specific point of responsibility for preparing growers and exporters to export successfully to all markets
• Ensure the continuity of knowledge within the industry through increased core resourcing
• Design of an emergency industry consultation and response plan in case of market disruption or closure
• Working collaboratively with other horticulture sectors
• Identify R&D requirements to support market access and market maintenance
• Work collaboratively with other apple and pear programs and delivery partners such as the industry communications program and Future Orchards® to deliver information to growers, emphasising the importance and opportunities in exports.
