Request for Proposal: An integrated systems-based approach for pest management in Australian macadamia (MC21000)
Hort Innovation is a not-for-profit, grower-owned Research and Development Corporation (RDC) for Australia’s $15.1 billion horticulture industry. Hort Innovation invests around $120 million in research and development (R&D) and marketing programs annually to provide benefit to industry and the wider community.
Hort Innovation is seeking a suitably qualified, experienced and capable delivery partner for the program: An integrated systems-based approach for pest management in Australian macadamia (MC21000).
This program advocates moving away from reactive interventions and looks toward designing a production system to address underlying weaknesses that allow an organism to become a pest.. All orchard ecosystems should be optimised to:
(i) make the environments disadvantageous to pests;
(ii) reduce tree susceptibility and accessibility to pests
(iii) make control measures as effective as possible while maintaining orchard profitability.
The program aims to deliver on the following key priorities as identified by the macadamia industry through a four-part integrated Research, Development and Extension program.
• Ecology, biology and epidemiology
• Decision making support
• Application of biological control
• Integration, extension, engagement and training.
Respondents are expected to provide well justified proposals to address one or more of the key priorities outlined above. Hort Innovation encourages potential delivery partners to collaborate and submit a program response. However, Hort Innovation may award the different components of work to more than one service provider.
Hort Innovation has prepared a Request for Proposal (RFP) document that provides background information, outlines the scope of services, the procurement process and the information required from interested parties.
The closing date for responses is 5:00 PM (AEDT), 14 March 2022. Extended to 5:00 PM (AEDT), 21 March 2022.
