Request for Proposal: Validating water disinfestation systems in nursery production (NY21002)
Hort Innovation is a not-for-profit, grower-owned Research and Development Corporation (RDC) for Australia’s $15.1 billion horticulture industry. Hort Innovation invests around $120 million in research and development (R&D) and marketing programs annually to provide benefit to industry and the wider community.
Hort Innovation is seeking a suitably qualified, experienced and capable delivery partner for the project: Validating water disinfestation systems in nursery production (NY21002).
This project seeks to evaluate the efficacy and crop safety of current and alternative irrigation water disinfestation methods with the aim of providing detailed guidelines on their use within the Australian nursery industry. The project is expected to be delivered in two years over three phases.
• Phase one involves undertaking a review of the mainstream water disinfestation methods used by the nursery industry. All approved and emerging practices should be considered in this review. This review should be conducted in line with the results achieved in project NY13003.
• Phase two involves evaluating the efficacy and crop safety of the available methods and providing detailed information on the duration (i.e., contact time), dose-response, residual concentration, cost and benefit of these water disinfestation methods. A select number of nurseries should be included in the evaluation and the analysis should be done over a minimum of two years.
• Phase three involves updating the water disinfestation best management practice and NIASA guidelines. The updated management guidelines should include all the details required (e.g., efficacy, duration, residual concentration, water quality and cost) to undertake the treatment.
Hort Innovation has prepared a Request for Proposal (RFP) document that provides background information, outlines the scope of services, the procurement process and the information required from interested parties.
The RFP may be downloaded from www.tenders.net (you will need to be a member of tenders.net to access this information).
The closing date for responses is 3.00pm (AEST), 14 June 2022.
