Hort Innovation is a not-for-profit, grower-owned Research and Development Corporation (RDC) for Australia’s $9 billion horticulture industry. Hort Innovation invests around $100 million in research and development (R&D) and marketing programs annually to provide benefit to industry and the wider community.

Hort Innovation is seeking a suitably qualified, experienced and capable delivery partner for the project: Sex selection genes from fruit fly species for use in SITplus (FF17000).

The objectives of the services being sought are to:
• Provide efficient and cost-effective tools for the breeding of a male only strain of Queensland Fruit Fly (Qfly) for use in south eastern Australia
• Identify the mutations responsible for tsl in medfly; and for wp in medfly, melon fly and oriental fruit fly
• Determine whether these mutations can be used to generate genetic sexing strains (GSS) in Qfly and other tephritid species.

Hort Innovation has prepared a Request for Proposal (RFP) document that provides background information, outlines the scope of services, the procurement process and the information required from interested parties.
