Background:
The Chinchilla Weir and campgrounds are located on the Chinchilla - Tara Road approximately 9km south of Chinchilla.
Offering the availability of power and toilet facilities along with park amenities such as BBQ's, sheltered picnic tables and a rotunda, the parklands has the potential to be developed into a tourism destination for the region.
Campgrounds are also located alongside the Chinchilla Weir and adjoining waterways. Access to the waterways is made available through a boat ramp making the area a great destination for water sports. The project to be undertaken will be to formalise these areas and construct new camping and day-use facilities within the existing footprints of the area.
Provide dedicated camping sites, campfire spots, car and boat parking and new BBQ facilities and shelters. At the same time, additional wayfinding and entrance signage will be installed as well as regulatory signage and resurfacing the road spaces and protecting the foliage with vehicle barriers.
