Background:
The Caliguel Lagoon is located approximately 7km south of the Condamine Township and is a popular site for both water sports and fishing.
The campgrounds located on the banks of the lagoon are a perfect spot for camping with level grassed areas and accessibility for caravans and motorhomes. In addition to kayaking and swimming there is a good quality accessible boat ramp that is highly utilised for recreational watercraft and skiing.
The associated campground has a range of facilities for day visitor and campers, shaded picnic structures and wood fire BBQ facilities are available along with an amenities block providing toilets and outdoor shower facilities.
The project to be undertaken will be to formalise these areas and construct new camping and day use facilities within the existing footprints of the area. Provide dedicated camping sites, campfire spots, car and boat parking and new BBQ facilities and shelters.
At the same time additional wayfinding and entrance signage will be installed as well as regulatory signage and re-surfacing the road spaces and protecting the foliage with vehicle barriers.
