Background:
The Western Downs Regional Council area is located in south-west Queensland, about 300 kilometres north-west of the Brisbane CBD.
The Western Downs Regional Council area is bounded by Banana Shire in the north, the South Burnett Regional Council area in the north-east, the Toowoomba Regional Council area in the south-east, Balonne Shire and the Goondiwindi Regional Council area in the south-west, and the Maranoa Regional Council area in the west.
The Western Downs Regional Council area is predominantly rural, with numerous small townships and villages. The largest township is Dalby, with smaller townships at Bell, Chinchilla, Jandowae, Miles, Tara and Wandoan, and several villages.
Council currently seeks commercial cleaning of the Chinchilla Parks and Open Spaces Depot, Chinchilla Botanic Parklands, Chinchilla Weir and Chinchilla and Kogan Public Toilets.
CHINCHILLA & KOGAN:
Chinchilla is a rural township just over an one hour west of Dalby, known as the 'Melon Capital of Australia' and plays host to a Melon festival every second year in February. Chinchilla hosts many facilities and amenities including but not limited to the Chinchilla Cultural Centre, which includes a public library and cinema to name a few.
The Chinchilla Botanic Parkland is one of our region’s premiere public spaces and showcases the region’s diverse native flora and rich history, offering a wide variety of attractions including the megafauna discovery centre, a state-of-the-art water play area, parkour equipment and an outdoor amphitheatre.
The Chinchilla Parks and Open Spaces Depot is a Council staff facility opposite the Chinchilla Botanic Gardens.
The Chinchilla Weir was recently revitalised as part of its COVID-19 Recovery Package and is a recreational spot which is popular among local residents and travellers alike.
Kogan is a rural village 30 minutes east of Chinchilla and hosts the Kogan Memorial Hall. The village features sculptures by Australian artist, Hugh Sawrey who spent many years in the Kogan area and is a well-known tourist attraction as part of the 'Hugh Sawrey Walk of Fame'.
Council recognises the importance of professional cleaning services to promote a safe and healthy space, provide high-quality cleaned facilities and amenities and to make a good impression for both locals and tourists enjoying the region.
