Tender Details
Background:
Western Downs Regional Council is seeking Tenders from suitably qualified and experienced firms to undertake upgrades to the Dalby Washdown Facility, including a concept design to further construct.
The Dalby Washdown Facility has experienced operational challenges for the duration of its operating lifetime. Council has worked with contractors and specialist technical advisors, as well as trialled various changes to operational activities such as closing the washdown one day a week, to resolve the facility defects.
Past solutions and actions have not resulted in permanent fixes to overcome operational difficulties emanating from the particle sizing distribution and high solids loading of the influent to the plant.
Therefore, Council undertook further investigations via a process review between November 2021 and March 2022 for the overall operations of the wastewater treatment facility (WTF) at the Dalby Sale Yards.
The outcomes of the process review were compiled within a report, which provided Council with a comprehensive scope and specification to address priority upgrades for the facility.
The Dalby Washdown Facility is located at the Dalby Saleyards, which is one of Queensland's largest livestock handling facilities. The washdown is used primarily for the washing of cattle trucks, who utilise a high-volume hose. A high-pressure outlet hose is also available for weed seed wash. Two bays are available for use, as well as an inclined ramp for light vehicles.
The facility was commissioned in 2016 and has an on-site wastewater treatment facility to treat wastewater to a standard generally equivalent to domestic sewerage prior to release to sewer. The treatment system on site includes two rotating drum screens, an anaerobic chamber with a mixer, a large aeration basin with four blowers/mixers, solids return, vertical solids waste storage and solids waste via a screw press.
