RFT 2025-3056 - Waste Collection Services
Byron Shire Council invites suitably qualified and experienced companies to lodge a tender submission for the proposed waste collection services contract.
The scope of this procurement includes:
a) To achieve efficient and effective implementation and management of a kerbside and public place collection service incorporating residual waste collection, organics collection and recyclables collection services
b) To achieve and maintain a high standard of performance in provision of the Services by the Contractor using best practice methods and systems
c) To regularly assess the performance of the Contractor and to gain continual improvement to work practices and resource recovery
d) To promote the health, safety and welfare of all persons engaged in or affected by the Services
e) To facilitate a sustained effort to increase the type, quality and amount of resources recovered from the waste stream
f) To reduce the volume of food and garden organics sent to landfill by Byron Shire residents
g) To maximise and preserve the resource integrity and value of recoverable and reusable materials within the waste stream
h) To ensure the provision of ongoing effective communication and cooperation between the Council and the Contractor
i) To provide high standard, resource recovery services, based on "best practice" principles, which are complementary to national, state and regional waste management policies, as well as Council's own waste management strategy
j) To fulfil the Council's obligations under legislation relating to provision of resource recovery services
k) To fulfil the Council's obligations under the guiding principles in the Local Government Act 1993
I) To effectively communicate with and educate Byron Shire residents about the Council's three Mobile Garbage Bin (MGB) collection services
m) To provide cost effective services that users perceive as offering value for money.
