TBSC/25/033 - Burdekin Aquatic Centre - New Amenities Block
Burdekin Shire Council is undertaking an upgrade to the amenities at the Burdekin Aquatic Centre in Ayr, QLD. This project aims to provide a new, accessible, and cyclone-resilient amenities block that meets community expectations for modern, clean, inclusive public facilities.
Council seeks submissions from suitably qualified contractors for the design, supply, and installation of a new amenities block, based on the floor plan. The facility will serve patrons of the aquatic centre and the broader community. The works must be completed within a 4-month construction period between April and September 2026.
Site Location
The amenities block will be installed at the Burdekin Aquatic Centre, located at 242 Queen Street, Ayr QLD. The proposed location shall integrate with existing infrastructure and allow for pedestrian and DDA-compliant access from poolside and adjacent carparks.
Project Expectations
The successful contractor will be responsible for: - Design finalisation (based on provided floor plan) - Engineering documentation - Supply and installation of the structure and fit-out - All required services connections - Construction management and commissioning - Defects liability management
The amenities block includes:
Separate male (2) and female toilets (2) - Ambulent cubicles (2) - Accessible (DDA-compliant) toilets (2) and change room - Shower facilities (2) - Baby change facility (2) – Changing Places Facility (1)
Four showers in each male and female change-rooms – total (8)
Large change bench in each area
Handbasins in each change area
Access corridor for easy maintenance of showers and toilets.
Storage and service room - External drinking fountain location - Provision for solar lighting and daylighting
