500.2025.0052 - Collinsville Community Hub - Construction
The aim of this Project is to deliver a centralised Whitsunday Regional Council Corporate and Community Infrastructure Precinct in Collinsville Qld 4804 (the Works).
The current state of facilities in Collinsville are that many of the current community offerings are spread out across the township, they are offered in buildings that are at end of life that continue to require high levels of maintenance and repairs.
Whitsunday Regional Council (the Principal) have engaged CA Architects Pty Ltd and Cox Architecture to provide a design for a new Collinsville Community Hub that will provide an operationally efficient Council asset that better accommodates community and visitors needs, encourages visitation, and creates a positive legacy for Collinsville.
A key purpose of the new Community Hub is to consolidate currently dispersed facilities in a single, legible and efficiently staffed location. Where appropriate, service counters, circulation spaces and administrative facilities such as meeting rooms, staff areas, and amenities will be shared.
The new facility will provide a functional and welcoming community space for daily Council services and community activity.
The Hub will incorporate:
a) a significant flexible Community Space to host community activities and events, training and education, meeting and gathering;
b) a flexible Community Hall that can support and encourage a diverse range of activities;
c) contemporary library spaces, imaginative third spaces (shared, social spaces beyond the traditional environs of home and work), and enhanced public places where people can meet, study, work, relax and be entertained;
d) a gymnasium with external operators;
e) a consolidated community precinct of welcoming indoor & shaded outdoor spaces; and
f) the design encourages interaction and movement through future leisure and recreation precincts.
The project is inclusive of all works described in the design documentation including all works as required to demolition the existing community facility and construct a new fully functional and operational Collinsville Community Hub.
