TEN16472 - North Rockhampton Cemetery Access Road Upgrade
North Rockhampton Cemetery, located in Rockhampton, Queensland, Australia, was established in 1879.
Spanning approximately eleven hectares, it sits adjacent to the Bruce Highway, near the intersection of Yaamba Road and Moores Creek Road in the suburb of Norman Gardens. The cemetery is the final resting place for more than 25,100 individuals.
Rockhampton Regional Council has recently removed several Poinciana trees from the Cemetery due to fungal rot affecting their trunks. In response, Council is taking this opportunity to upgrade the main access road and rejuvenate the surrounding gardens. As part of this revitalisation, native tree species will be planted to replace the removed Poincianas, enhancing both the visual appeal and ecological value of the cemetery.
