TEN/2880 - Collection of Disused Chemicals
Bundaberg Regional Council is seeking a Supplier for the Collection of Disused Chemicals.
Under the proposed arrangement, the Supplier will be required to undertake quarterly collection, transportation, treatment, and disposal of disused and hazardous domestic chemicals stored at the Bundaberg Waste Management Facility. All services are to be performed in accordance with applicable environmental legislation, licensing requirements, and industry best practice for the safe handling of hazardous materials.
Council’s Waste & Recycling Services team currently accepts small quantities of domestic chemicals from the public free of charge at the Bundaberg Waste Management Facility. Accepted items must be delivered in sealed containers of 5 litres or less. Additional hazardous chemicals are routinely encountered across Council’s broader waste network, including landfill sites, transfer stations, and general waste stockpiles. These chemicals are consolidated and transferred to the Bundaberg Waste Management Facility for secure temporary storage within a dedicated chemical storage shed, which typically holds three to four months’, or until run out of storage, inventory.
Common chemical types likely to be handled include, but are not limited to:
a) Paints, thinners, solvents
b) Pool and spa treatment chemicals
c) Cleaning agents and degreasers
d) Automotive oils, fuels, and lubricants
e) Household and agricultural pesticides and herbicides
f) Unknown, unlabelLed, or mixed chemical substances.
Council proposes an initial contract term of 4 years plus a 2-year extension option.
