Matthews Park Reserve Upgrade (COP057428)
Matthews Park Reserve is located on the corner of Moore Street and Struan Avenue in Blair Athol. The upgrade of Matthews Park Reserve has been identified in Council’s Open Space Strategy.
The Open Space Strategy classifies Matthews Park Reserve as a ‘local’ park, which captures the local residents within 400m of the Reserve and is designed for short frequent visits. The space is aimed for informal/low key activities, flexible spaces, predominantly passive recreation and offering safe and appealing maintenance.
The objective of the upgrade is to create a reserve that has up-to-date facilities and meets the needs of the community.
Following two round of community consultations, the reserve upgrade has been designed and the scope broadly includes installation of a new play space, paths, shade sails, bicycle pump track, garden beds and trees, shelter and irrigation. Council requires the provision of the reserve upgrade (the Services) within the specified timeframe.
Broadly, the Contract Scope includes, but not limited to the following items:
- new playspace
- new fencing
- new paths
- new trees and plants
- new planting beds
- new irrigation
- new furniture / boulders / logs
- new edging
- new shelter
- new bicycle pump track
The project also includes post construction activities including three (3) months maintenance, which includes:
- Turf management
- Pruning of new shrubs and plants as required
- Weeding of pavements, turf and garden beds
- Top up of mulch in garden beds and trees to specified depths
- Removal of debris and garbage from areas
- General maintenance of the play equipment, including ensuring the equipment remains in good working order
- Ensuring the irrigation remains in good working order
- Topping up compacted sand levels as required to avoid trip hazards
