Wadmore House Precinct
The Coorong District Council is welcoming Expressions of Interest (EOI) for the potential lease or purchase of the much‑loved Wadmore House Precinct in Meningie. Council is inviting formal proposals from community groups, sporting clubs, not‑for‑profit organisations and commercial interests who may have a vision for the site’s next chapter.
Wadmore House Precinct, located at 78A Princes Highway and comprising three titles and offers potential for community activation, reuse of the character house, or commercial development.
The three lots are all contained within the Town Activity Centre Zone and include:
Lot 50, approximately 4,350m2 of land with Wadmore House and various outbuildings
Lot 51, approximately 800m2 of vacant land
Lot 52 is approximately 2,000m2 of vacant land
Since the site became vacant in early 2019, Council has listened closely to the community through engagement activities and an Open Day, gathering ideas, hopes and aspirations for how the property might be used in the future.
The precinct’s future was again discussed at the November Council meeting, where its community value and the importance of finding a sustainable long‑term outcome were highlighted. Council has also appreciated the ongoing conversations with community members who have expressed interest in seeing the site used for community‑focused purposes.
To continue this collaborative approach, Council is undertaking an EOI process to explore a wide range of potential uses—whether community and social activities, sport and recreation, or commercial ventures. With the State Government recently removing a restrictive covenant over the property, Council now has full flexibility to consider all options.
