Dorset Council is seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified professionals for its Audit Panel in the two vacant roles of Chairperson and Independent Member.
The Panel is established under section 85(1) of the Local Government Act 1993 (Tas) and its objective is to review Council’s performance under section 85A of the Act and report to Council its conclusions and recommendations.
The Panel comprises four members, two Elected Members and two Independent Members, appointed by Council for a two year term in accordance with the Dorset Council Audit Panel Charter. Independent positions are remunerated in accordance with the Charter, and the Panel meets at least four times per year.
Applicants will possess good business acumen, sound general management skills and strong communication skills. Applicants will demonstrate knowledge and expertise in the principles of good organisational governance, financial management, internal and external audit operations, and risk management principles. Experience in local government, not for profit or other similar complex organisations would be an advantage.
Applicants must have capacity to form independent judgements and a willingness to constructively question management practices and information in a respectful way.
